Retiring in Thailand
Compare areas, living costs and access to healthcare, then visit or take a trial stay where a provider offers one, before you commit to anything.

Tell us what matters
A free introductory conversation about your goals, the areas you are considering, your budget and any support needs. There is no obligation to go further.
- 02
Review feasible options
We check which providers could realistically help, what they cover and whether they have availability for your situation. Sometimes that is several options, sometimes one, and sometimes we will tell you we cannot help yet.
- 03
Meet and assess
Where available, you speak with providers directly by video call, visit in person or take a trial stay. Any care assessment is carried out by the provider.
- 04
Plan the practical steps
We agree in writing what Baan will do and any Baan fee, then help coordinate the relocation tasks that apply to you.
- 05
Stay in touch
Follow-up after you have chosen a provider is included only to the extent set out in the Baan service you agreed.

Free to start
The first conversation is free. If you choose a provider, you normally contract with and pay them directly, and any Baan fee is agreed in writing before work begins.
Independent providers deliver care
Baan guides and coordinates. Accommodation, care and nursing come from the provider you choose, under its own contract and terms.
The choice stays yours
No provider currently pays us when you choose them. You are free to choose any provider, or none at all.
Common questions
What does it cost?
Your initial conversation with Baan is free. We explain any Baan fees and any referral arrangement relevant to your options before you decide. If you choose a provider, you normally contract with and pay that provider directly. Optional Baan concierge work is quoted and agreed in writing before it begins. Provider prices depend on the person’s needs, the location and the service, so ask each provider for a written quote for your situation.
Which areas of Thailand do you cover?
We can currently make introductions in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin. We are building our provider network in Pattaya and Chonburi. What is available still differs by area and by type of support, so we confirm what we can actually offer for your situation before any introduction. Our guides to Chiang Rai and Phuket are general information about retiring there; we do not currently make introductions in those areas.
Who delivers the care?
Independent providers, not Baan. Accommodation, personal care, nursing, treatment and other specialist services are delivered by the provider you choose, under its own contract, licences and terms. Our role is guidance, checking suitability before an introduction, and coordinating the steps agreed with you.
Can someone with complex health needs move to Thailand?
Sometimes, but it depends on the person’s doctors, the specific provider and whether travelling is safe for them. A move should only be considered after the person’s GP or specialist has advised on fitness to travel and the care needed, and after a provider has assessed them. We can help you ask the right questions, but Baan does not assess or guarantee clinical safety.
Does the person receiving care get to choose?
Yes. Wherever possible we want to hear from the person themselves: where they would like to live, what matters to them day to day and what worries them. We ask for their consent before sharing their details with any provider. If they cannot make the decision themselves, we ask who has the legal authority to act for them, and their known wishes still shape the options we discuss.
