How BAAN works, and what it costs
What we do, what independent providers do, and what you can expect at each step.
Our role
BAAN RetireEase Thailand helps international retirees and their families explore retirement living, care, wellness and relocation options in Thailand. We provide personal guidance, coordinate introductions and help families plan practical next steps. Care and other specialist services are delivered by independent providers.
We work with selected providers in Thailand and review suitability, availability, service scope and practical arrangements for each enquiry before making an introduction. The providers available will depend on location and individual needs.
What BAAN does
- Talk through your goals, preferred areas, budget and support needs
- Check which providers could realistically help, and what they can take on
- Coordinate introductions, calls, visits and trial stays where providers offer them
- Help plan the practical side of a move, and point you to specialists where available
- Explain any BAAN fee and any referral arrangement before you decide
What BAAN does not do
- Deliver accommodation, personal care, nursing or medical treatment
- Assess clinical needs or decide whether someone is fit to travel
- Issue visas, or give legal, tax, immigration or financial advice
- Act as an emergency service
- Sign a provider’s contract on your behalf
BAAN advises and coordinates. Accommodation, personal care, nursing, treatment, insurance and immigration services are provided by the relevant independent providers or qualified professionals under their own terms.
The five steps
You can stop after any of them.
- 01
Tell us what matters
A free introductory conversation about your goals, the areas you are considering, your budget and any support needs. There is no obligation to go further.
- 02
Review feasible options
We check which providers could realistically help, what they cover and whether they have availability for your situation. Sometimes that is several options, sometimes one, and sometimes we will tell you we cannot help yet.
- 03
Meet and assess
Where available, you speak with providers directly by video call, visit in person or take a trial stay. Any care assessment is carried out by the provider.
- 04
Plan the practical steps
We agree in writing what BAAN will do and any BAAN fee, then help coordinate the relocation tasks that apply to you.
- 05
Stay in touch
Follow-up after you have chosen a provider is included only to the extent set out in the BAAN service you agreed.
What happens after you get in touch
- We confirm that your enquiry has reached us.
- We have a first conversation about what you are looking for. We only ask for the health information needed to understand the kind of support involved.
- We ask for consent: from the person the enquiry is about, and again before we share any of their details with a provider.
- We check which providers could help and the level of need each one can take on.
- We tell you what is actually available, what is still uncertain, any BAAN fee and any referral arrangement that applies.
- The provider carries out its own assessment, and arranges a visit or trial stay where it offers one.
- You see the provider’s contract and price directly before you decide.
- We agree in writing who to contact if something goes wrong and what follow-up BAAN includes.
Fees
Your initial conversation with BAAN is free. We explain any BAAN fees and any referral arrangement relevant to your options before you decide. If you choose a provider, you normally contract with and pay that provider directly. Optional BAAN concierge work is quoted and agreed in writing before it begins.
Referral arrangements
BAAN does not currently have a referral arrangement with any provider, so no provider pays us when you choose them. If we agree one in future, we will tell you before you decide whether it applies to an option we suggest. Either way, we explain why we think each option may suit you, you see the provider’s own terms and price before you commit, and you are free to choose any provider, or none at all.
Provider prices
Provider prices depend on the person’s needs, the location and the service, and they can change over time. Ask each provider for a written quote that says what is included, what is extra and how the price changes if more care is needed. Our budget planning guide lists the costs to include.
Replies, calls and urgent issues
We reply to enquiries by email, and calls are arranged by appointment. BAAN is not an emergency response or clinical care service. For an urgent care or medical issue, contact your provider or local emergency service directly.
Thailand is 6 hours ahead of the UK during British Summer Time and 7 hours ahead during GMT, so we agree call times that work for both.
Your choices
- You can stop at any point, and there is no charge for the first conversation.
- You decide whether to go ahead with any provider. Choosing none is always an option.
- The person the enquiry is about is involved in decisions about their own life and care wherever possible.
- We ask for consent before sharing personal details with any provider.
